This place rocked. Located just above the Basilica of St. Francis, Trattoria al Camino Vecchio offers genuine Italian food. I know...needle scratch on the vinyl record. You're thinking what does a handsome American of Filipino-Hawaiian descent know about genuine Italian food? Well I get to say genuine because my Italian-born driver Rolando (see my review of his services) said it was!

Service was incredibly friendly and this was pretty amazing because there was no English in our transaction. We all tried our best to order and say pleasantries in Italian. I would like to add that Rolando did come by and help clarify a mix up on my wine order (I almost got a whole bottle to myself oops). I drink, but not like that! But the host and waitress were soooo nice!

I got the tagliatelle all' Assisana, a scrumptious fresh pasta with porcini mushrooms, pancetta, in a light aromatic tomato sauce.
My wife and kid shared a simple pasta marinara plate and a chicken stewed in tomato sauce. Another shared a margherita pizza with her cousin. Everyone was happy.

    Definitely recommend.

My mom and I got the mushroom risotto and the steak with tomatoes, arugula, Parmesan and olive oil. The food was tasty- mushroom risotto was delicious and the steak was cooked and seasoned well. I'm a little upset bc the meat didn't come with arugula like it said it did. It came with some shreds of lettuce and later when asked about it the waiter said there was some problem with the kitchen... if that's the case i would think they would ask if that's okay first before serving? I mean I've been a server before at numerous places and that seems like the proper etiquette instead of assuming i wont know what the difference between arugula and lettuce is.. rant over. Other than that, good food good service

A wonderful small quaint trattoria in Assisi Umbria, started with the bruschetta topped with chopped artichoke, black olives and another with tomato and basil. Then, incredible homemade pastas ravioli filled with porcini mushroom, artichoke hearts in a light wine cream sauce....followed by lamp chop tartufo ( truffle) to die for.....so good. Ended the meal with an expresso and an averna aspertif . Did I mention the view on top of the hills of Umbria are breath taking....a must go o place when visiting Italy.

Very quaint authentic italian restaurant, nothing touristy about this place. The bean and farrao soup was great, but the pecorino and truffle pasta was absolutely amazing. The waiter was great explained all the main course selections the menu was in italian.... The mixed grilled meats was a perfect choice.
